The North Jersey Christian Softball League was founded in 1980 by a few dedicated individuals who believed that Christian fellowship and good sportsmanship should exten d beyond their own church walls. The NJCSL began with a handful of players from six Morris County
area churches. Today we have grown to include over 36 member churches with as many as 700 men and woman participants. Our member churches are mostly located in the Morris and
Sussex Counties in Northern New Jersey.
A few years ago we expanded into two leagues. The original league is known as the “Competitive League” where players can enjoy a game with a more serious nature. Our second league is called the “Fellowship League” where players
can enjoy a good time regardless of their level of play. Scores keeping is often secondary to the joy of getting together with fellow Christians and enjoying fellowship.
The Competitive league plays an eleven week, twelve game season with over 20 teams participating. The Fellowship League play 10 games in a 10 week season. The Competitive
League’s season is followed by a brief playoff series. We begin each game with a prayer and end each game with a handshake and prayer. In the true Christian spirit
games are umpired by the participants with the batting team supplying the umpires for th at half inning. This only works because we are truly gathering in Christ’s name to honor Him with our play, our sportsmanship and the fun we have.
We are currently looking for additional churches to help grow our league. We also try to match up individuals who are interested in playing with teams
who need players. The only requirement is that you must be affiliated with a church and be a member in good standing. Click here if you or your church is interested in finding out more about our league and
someone from the league will contact you. We look forward to hearing from you.
